The best live singers...according to me

Image
Ronnie James Dio And I’m probably biased on this, because he’s my favourite singer ever. I’ve seen him play live many times, with Dio, Black Sabbath, and Heaven and Hell, which of course was also Black Sabbath by another name. His voice and lyrical theme combined to make him legendary. He was always a strong personality, and that led to some good opinions about him, some not so, but the one thing everyone agreed on was that he was a singer first, last and always, and he was thoroughly focussed on it. He always delivered, either on record or on stage. Simply untouchable, may he rest in piece. Amy Lee I saw Evanescene just the once (so far), back in about ‘03. I’d heard the Fallen album, and I was sold. And on the back of one album, the band headlined Wembley Arena, which is pretty damn impressive. The band more then stepped up to the challenge, and Amy Lee’s voice was just immense. I’m really really glad that both her and her band have gone the distance, they absolutely deserve it. Joey...

Will Trump reject the mid term elections?

Image
Answering as a Brit, I can really only give a beer and peanuts pub discussion answer, and I’m more than happy to be corrected by anyone who’s better informed than me. So, I suspect that he’d only reject the results is the Republicans lose, and lose control of one or both houses of government. He’s certainly got form for it, denying that he lost the 2020 election, and we all saw how that turned out. I remember watching that on television, and it was second only to 9/11 in terms of the most shocking thing I’d ever seen happen in America. I simply couldn’t believe what I was watching. So it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that he does reject the results, and may even revert to type and phone officials and ask them to ‘find’ votes. As to what happens, if Trump/the Republicans lose the mid terms, one can only hope that the civil/statutory apparatus will kick in and the will of the electorate simply prevails. A few years ago, that wouldn’t even be questioned. Now though, and only base...

Would a kukri be seen after an apocalypse?

Image
It most definitely could be. The Kukri is a Nepalese utility knife primarily designed for chopping, whether that be vegetation, crops, wood, animals or people. It’s the national weapon of Nepal and it’s been made world famous by the Nepalese Gurkha soldiers, who are themselves justifiably world famous. Typically, the scabbard would also contain a smaller utility knife and a sharpening tool. It’s a very versatile tool, and also a fearsome weapon. It would definitely be valued after the apocalypse, and that means it would definitely be around.
