About Me

I was born in 1968 into an army family, and lived mostly in Germany until 1986. Well, I say living in Germany, but anyone who's lived overseas with the military would probably agree that you only sort of live in a foreign country. In reality, you were physically in Germany, but part of this micro-UK community that was super-imposed overseas.
I moved back to the UK, aged 18, and what a culture shock that was! Leaving school, leaving Germany, leaving a military environment all at once certainly took some getting used to. I worked a few jobs, mainly pubs and kitchens, before joining the RAF Regiment in 1989.
I served in the air force until 1992, including a tour of duty on Op Granby. Despite my upbringing, for me, being in the military wasn't my wisest career choice. In 1993 I started nurse training, and qualified in 1996.
I still have a day job, but I've always written in my spare time. I've found that my niche is humorous fiction, hence the Cold Steel series.
My fourth book, It's Not For Everyone, is a mini-memoir of my time in the RAF, and also takes a light-hearted slant on some pretty serious military issues that you definitely won't read about from any official channels.
And right now? I'm working on a post-apocalyptic story that's currently very much in draft form. I don't have a title yet, but watch this space, and as soon as it's ready, it will be available on Amazon. And I'll keep you posted here on my blog.
