Joe Dimitri

Joe Dimitri is Cold Steel's bass guitarist, and an unashamedly seventies hippy throwback. Nowadays, you might find that strange, and never mind that Ozzy said he was never into that 'hippy dippy' stuff, but back in the day there was a definite crossover. And with his long hair, psychedelic purple shirts, flares and rope sandals, he's not that out of place looks wise either.
As you might expect, Joe is closer to the band's drummer than anyone else, and his mellow outlook on life is at variance with Maxwell, Vince and Andy. But Joe has his strengths as well. His less than innocent past helps the band with their treasure hunt in Cold Steel on the Rocks,  and his one-ness with nature has an unexpected benefit in We Are Cold Steel.
Joe has a definite weakness for smoking weed. And sometimes that's a problem, like the UK leg of the first tour they're on when Johnny Faslane becomes the band's manager. And sometimes it helps- at least a little bit- in Cold Steel's soon to be published third novel, Cold Steel and the Underground Boneyard.
But it's his playing that is always on point when the band play live. Alongside Mike Vesuvius on drums, the pair create a super-tight rhythm section that's the envy of other bands. When he's not attached to suspension wires and being thrown into the crowd by mistake, that is. Joe plays a no-nonsense Fender bass.
So if my books were ever to be filmed, and if I was ever asked, I'd give the part of Joe Dimitri to Simon Pegg, I think he'd really nail it.
